Your first birthday party

Yesterday we had your one-year-old birthday party here at the house on the deck and in the back yard. There is so much to write about but I wanted to write down what your daddy and I thought was the best part first.
Your daddy says: "I think the most fun was watching Sammy eat the smash cake. You are such a little entertainer. You really like having everybody watch you and you're so cute!"

Mommy says, "I enjoyed watching you eat the cake to and seeing you wearing your little birthday hat. You held up so good throughout the whole day while everybody was here and you really had fun visiting with everybody and walking around the yard holding sticks.

We do want to tell you that we are sorry for the incident that happened that caused you to cry. We took a picture in the photo booth and put on a adhesive mustache and it was very cute and everyone really liked seeing you in it. You got to bed around that your lip and tried to lick it. However when it was time for the mustache to come off it was stuck. The actual mustache part came off but the backing stayed on your lip. When we were picking at it to take it off you got really upset and crying so daddy and I took you inside and took it off in the living room. It's one of those things that you hate to laugh at someone when they fall down but sometimes you can't help it. I guess what was cute about it was the profile of the adhesive was still on your lip and that looked funny. You were a big boy and got over it pretty quickly and went back to playing.

Your guest list included: Miss Janet and her husband Mr. David, grand dad and Beverly, Grandmere and Bill, nana, aunt Angela, uncle Duane and Alex. Katie and Molly and Rowan,Ralph and Laura, Gordon and Julie and Gordie, Carolyn, Monica & Jason, Ansley and Cohen and Mrs Bouchillon.  Mr. Jerry and Ms. Susan from next-door came also and brought their two grandsons.  Later in the day we had our next-door neighbors come over and some neighbors come from down the street
They have 2 kids each and they played in the yard. You had fun watching them.

Your birrthday party theme was circus/carnival so we had little games set up around the yard with signs for the bigger kids. Your treats included popcorn, cracker jacks, lollipop cookies, hot dogs, Mac & cheese, brisket sliders and some good appetizers.

We did your cake about halfway through the party and everyone just has so much fun watching you. First year mostly interested in playing with the cake and putting your fingers all in it but then when you tasted it you really enjoyed it and were eating a lot of it. You ate about half of it and then I said,"how much cake should we let him eat?" and Mrs.Janet said, "that's a lot more than most people let them eat", so we took it away and changed your shirt. :). Your cake look like a little circus tent with red, white and blue icing.  The cupcakes we had made for everybody looked like little buckets of popcorn.

You got lots of presents and we didn't finish opening them so we plan on doing that today. You may actually get some of these presents for Christmas :). Cohen was helping you open your presents which was really cute. Ansley and Cowan probably love you the most next to me and your daddy and Grandmere and Nana :).

It was a beautiful day,
and we are so happy to celebrate the first year of a little boy that we love so much and think is the most precious thing in the world!
Happy first birthday our dearest Samuel!

Birthday week and Las Vegas

This is your 1 year birthday week Sam!  It's Monday and I am on a plane heading back home after being in a sales meeting in Las Vegas for work. That's the only time I will have to travel for work any length of time. I was just looking back through pictures I've taken on my phone since August.  It seems like the past few weeks you have really changed so much in the things you can do. You are walking really good now and climbing like a monkey on your nursery chair and the ottomans.  I missed you while I was away!  Daddy took you to Milledgeville on Saturday to the Deep Roots Festival. He said Ansley and Cohen loved playing with you. Saturday afternoon Grandmere came over and watched you. Sunday morning Daddy went hunting in our neighborhood.  He said it was a gorgeous morning.

I can't wait to come home. You will be asleep when I get home but I will see you in the morning. I can't wait!!!!

Pssst

I just went in your room to check on you and I guess I woke you up but you were really happy and smiling at me. So I crawled in your crib with you. You were so happy and talking and climbing over me and grabbing my nose and just being so happy and sweet like I've never seen you before.  That was a special moment with you buddy. Thank you :)

Your first birthday

Your first birthday was today. Daddy was out of town so I made sure to tell you happy birthday for the both of us. He texted me early morning to make sure you had a good happy birthday morning. You woke up at 5:30 and were happy and played for a little bit, got a bottle and went back to sleep while I got ready. Take you to Janets and went into the city for work and picked you up at four. You celebrated at Miss Janet's with cupcakes. When we got home we played some more and then went to see aunt Angela uncle Dwayne and Alex.
Then I took you to crackle barrel and miss Carolyn joined us. (On a sidenote on the way home my stomach got really upset and I just went in your room and you smell like throw up-yikes!)
I ordered a piece of Coca-Cola chocolate cake with ice cream and I put a candle in it and we celebrated at crackle barrel!
It's almost midnight and you're in your room and I cannot sleep so I was looking at Facebook at all the posts that people wrote today telling you happy birthday and how much they love you. Everyone says how much of a personality you seem to have in your pictures and how full of life you are. We cannot wait to share many many more years with you are sweet, amazing boy!! Happy birthday to you!

You got two pairs of cute shoes that your daddy bought you. We also got you some 18 month clothes for the winter. Now we are at three Dollar Café and you are munching on goldfish. The Georgia game is on and we are watching it.

Enjoying work

Yesterday Nana took you to lunch to meet a couple of her friends and I planned on going but then I decided that it would be more important for me to continue making sales calls for the day. In my heart I would much rather be going to lunch with you and mommy and spending all my time with you but since I am working I feel committed to do a good job at what I'm doing. For some reason yesterday I was so worried about you and mom in the car just wanted to make sure that God took care of you guys while you were out on the road one thing I've been trying to do is enjoy the things I get to see while I am out on the road i've been seeing some pretty countryside today and yesterday I saw a really beautiful Catholic Church i'm going to try to start taking pictures of the prettiest thing I see every day.

Thoughts from mommy

Hi Sam
Lately there have been so many issues going on in the world. For the first time he bola has broken out in the US.  It's not on a large scale and I think only three people so far but it does create a conversation and a little bit of panic and some people. Isis is getting stronger and just heard on the radio that a couple people were arrested in London as they were going to just start beheading people in the streets. It's sad to think that there are such evil people in the world. The message that I heard in the music and conversations on the Christian radio this morning was that if you keep your focus on God and make him a worldly God and your mission is for the whole world to know God and not just make god what can he do for me. So that is the lesson is to keep your eyes on the Lord. Even if death comes early or we get really sick our main goal is keeping God first in our hearts and mind

11 months

Cool air and good times

This past weekend we had so much fun! On Saturday morning we got up and had breakfast and played and then we went to the monastery. They were having a fall festival. You got to see a miniature deer, an owl, goats, sheep and parrots. They even had a puppet show that you only got to see a couple minutes of. Daddy carried you in his backpack!  After that we went to lunch at a Mexican restaurant that I had taken you to when daddy was out of town. We went back home and I ran into McDonough so I could take some more things to my booth. I thought you would've slept when I was gone but you didn't and you were very very cranky when I got home. You and daddy were watching some TV.

On Sunday we had decided that we would stay home and relax and do a devotion together instead of going to church. I took you to McKinley's first birthday party with Katie. It was nearby at a park and it was a beautiful day with lots of gusty wind. It made me excited to have yours coming up soon!

Right now we are at Nanas house. We had painters come today to paint all of the dark stained doors and trim at our house. It's something that I've been wanting since we moved into the house so I am super excited. Must be a girl thing that I see the potential of how much better our house will look and more updated. Daddy stayed at home with the dogs. He sent me a picture tonight of your birthday party hat that I bought for you saying how cute it is. I'm glad that he was looking at the stuff and found some things he likes.

This evening at Nanas house you were really pitching a fit many times when we were telling you no. You never been like that. One time you were grabbing a candle and I told you no and you got upset and then you grabbed it and screamed. It's hard to not laugh but I need you to understand it so you can be safe. Well my darlin we love you more than words can say. You're the best thing that we've ever had!
