This past weekend dear daddy and I went camping up towards Dalengona. You stayed at Nanas house. We had taken you to the doctor the morning before we went to Nanas because it looked like you might be getting pinkeye. The doctor said you just had another viral infection from going to a new daycare most likely. So we decided it was okay to go out of town so we drove to Nanas and then we went into the woods. Daddy and I walked about 3 miles and then set up a camp near a creek. Daddy used a tarp as the tent and then put his wood-burning stove in it. I had fun walking around the area and picking up sticks and thought how much fun you would have helping me. Daddy got the stove all set up and the wood-burning stove working. Dad made a bonfire but it was hard to keep the fire going because all the wood seemed to be wet because we've had such a rainy winter. I was getting a little cold but I did not complain.
The next day I did complain when we ended up walking up the side of a mountain for about three hours :). My legs felt like jelly! We did hike for several miles and we got to a point where we stopped and had lunch and looked out over the beautiful mountain. We called to check on you and Nana said that you had crust all over your eyes and your nose was running like crazy. Poor thing!
We missed you :).
We hiked a couple more miles and got to a place where there was another mountain. I told your dad that I don't really think I can go up anymore mountains. He told me to sit in a nice little area that was on the side of a hidden road and I could read my book and he would go get the car. When he left I sat down in the leaves and read my book and had some time to really think about things and just relax. It was so peaceful and I thought of how wonderful it is to be a mom. I enjoyed just being in a place where I didn't have anything to worry about anything and I could just focus on nature and how beautiful it was outside. After I was there about 40 minutes I heard some leaves rustling nearby and I got nervous and thought it was a animal of some sort. It turned out it was your dad as he came running down the hill after hiking up the initial large hill only to realize that he had forgotten the car keys. We decided we would just walk back down the road that was nearby to where we parked the car which was several miles away. Your dad complemented a man and his cool motorcycle when we first came out of the trail. While we were walking down the road that same man stopped and asked where we were walking to. Your dad answered that we had forgotten our keys and that he and I were heading to our car at the park. The nice man said that seems really far away, would you like a ride? Your dad accepted and I waited for him to return with the car. We had such a nice weekend together just being free of normal routines. I felt really happy that I had been invited to go with your dad on his weekend excursion.
We were really happy to go and pick you up. Nana said that you wore her out. She took you for a walk and you played outside and went to the playground. She had set up some paper with some markers for you to color with on the kitchen table when we first got in there that Saturday. That was your very first art project with markers.
I know she enjoyed spending time with you!
