We got to go to Calloway gardens last weekend. It was a Christmas gift from Grandmere to us. I think it was the most perfect gift we could have asked for. Daddy and I took off from work on Friday and drove to Calloway. It's about an hour and a half away from our house going Southwest towards Columbus, GA and Alabama.
When we got to Calloway, we had some time before we could check into our rooms, so we looked around the hotel for a little bit. The lobby had a really pretty tree that you enjoyed looking at and touching the ornaments. Then we drove to the Butterfly exhibit. You were really amazed at the butterflies and kept reaching for them and screaming with excitement. It was adorable! It's so wonderful seeing you that amazed. We left there and went back to our hotel room so you could get a nap before the light show that night. They have different times you can sign up for the lights show.
We were signed up for the 6:45 time slot. It was hard to get you to take a nap, but we turned out the lights in the room and you slept for a little bit. I took a bath in the nice garden tub. Daddy took one too!
We had so much fun seeing the lights. We took a trolley train that is open to the air. It goes all through the park and the lights. They play music and talk over the speakers the entire ride. They make it seem like you are being pulled by a horse. The lights were so beautiful and you really were amazed. Grandmere held you a lot and she was so happy. The people in front of us were smiling back at you when you would scream out with laughter and excitement. There is nothing like the wonder and amazement of a child and seeing things through your eyes. We decided that we have to go back every year! After the light ride, we went to the tents where they have gifts and Santa is there. We wanted you to see him, so we were standing along the gate looking at him. He waved to you and I just fell in love with him. He was so sweet to do that. I bought an ornament and then we had to hurry to head to dinner before it closed for the evening. At dinner, they had really good food. It was a buffet so we got lots to eat!
After dinner we said goodnight and went back to our room. The next morning,Grandmere and Bill stopped by and I got in the shower. We hurried and got dressed so we could join them with you for breakfast. Grandmere enjoyed watching you eat and didn't worry about eating herself. We had a really good breakfast (buffet again) and then went back to the room to get packed up. Grandmere brought over a gift for you (O Little Town of Bethehem book) and ornaments from her house. You absolutely loved the book this whole Christmas season. Whenever I would start to sign that song, you would go find that book. That book played the song when you opened it up and had a star light that lit up when the book was open. We played in the lobby and looked the logs that were near the big fireplace and took more pictures.
We were all packed up and checked out and then drove over to the greenhouse. There you go inside and see really pretty plants and a huge poinsettia tree. There is a little waterfall inside that you liked too. They had a really big Christmas tree with presents underneath that you stood on. They even had a little kid's walkway with a cute little bench and table that you liked. You were having fun walking down the pathway through the "jungle".
For lunch, we stopped at the County restaurant that is a lot like Crackel Barrell. It has a gift shop with jams and jelly's and gifts. Everything was decorated for Christmas and the gifts were all Christmas related. Mommy loves that kind of stuff. :)
We had a nice lunch and then we headed home. We got home on Saturday around 3:30 pm. It was a short little trip packed full of fun!
